Albion Open Day!

Albion Cattle Society Meeting at High Lickbarrow Farm, Windermere –

Friday 7th- Saturday 8th July 2017 We hope that you are are all enjoying a productive spring with plenty of grass and even perhaps some new calves on the ground. With a resurgence of interest in the Albion breed, a new website, Facebook page and several new members, we felt it would be useful to hold a meeting of interested parties to discuss the breed, the formation of a breed society committee and breeding strategies for the future. We are therefore delighted to invite you, by kind permission of the National Trust, to a meeting of Albion cattle breeders to be held at High Lickbarrow Farm, Windermere, Cumbria on the 7th and 8th July 2017. High Lickbarrow has been home to the Scout Beck herd of Albions since the 1980s, and upon the death of owner Michael Bottomley in 2015, it was bequeathed to the National Trust, together with the herd. The grassland is of high conservation value, owing to the diversity of plant species present, and this is thought to be largely owing to the Albions grazing the land over the years. The National Trust have generously offered to provide a meal on the Friday evening, with a meeting and farm walk at High Lickbarrow on Saturday. Please let me know as soon as possible whether you are interested in attending, and more details will be sent in due course.
