2021! Centenary Year!

1st January, 2021 marks the start of a very special year for the Albion Cattle Society; it is the centenary since the first herd book was printed. The breed's founder was Mr William Clark, who lived near Bakewell, Derbyshire- the Albions were first known as 'Bakewell Blues'.

Mr Clark founded the breed in 1916 but actually sold it over to the (Blue) Albion Cattle Society on 1st January, 1921.

This September we plan to visit our roots by holding an open weekend meeting in Derbyshire. Within the last year, more and more Albions have found new homes in Derbyshire and we will see their dual purpose abilities including visiting a milking herd, a suckler herd and some fattening for beef.

We will be producing a special centenary herdbook and journal in one for the above event. Also, we intend to hold an on-line silent auction for which anyone can bid for items Please contact the society if you wish to contribute or have ideas to share.
